RE: Install front window, crazy idea?

We have a window on ours and just this past weekend had talked about how glad we are to have it. It doesn't open, just lets more light in and affords a look out the front. If I were buying a new TT a window in front would be one of the things I would want.

RE: Keeping Warm - safe and inexpensive.

We also use an electric space heater when camping in cold weather but not totally to save propane, our furnace is just plain noisy!

RE: heartland -north trail vs. forest river- rockwood opinions.

I almost bought a North Trail but ended up with a Flagstaff. I think I made the right choice for me. I did like the arched roof on the NT more than the flat roof on my FS. I thought the cabinetry in the FS was nicer than the NT.

RE: an interesting concoction for dinner...

Put a little beer in there if you like beer. It adds a nice flavor.

RE: North Florida Recommendation

If you can get a spot at Fort Clinch you'll enjoy it.

RE: Where to get oak panels for my refer front?

Are you looking for the stile and rail raised panel inserts or the oak look luaun insert? The raised panels do look nice and I would like a set myself.

RE: Light truck tires on travel trailer rims

Does anyone make LT tires in 15 inch sizes? I haven't found any. John U Continental Vanco is worth a look.

RE: You'll never believe this (actually you might)

I now feel much better about my 2500HD and 33' Crossroads. I am quite surprised at how level and happy that Chevy is. I can't tell but is that a 5.3L or the 6.0L tow max 1500? Pretty sure it's an LTZ with a 5.3. The 6.0 would normally have a VortecMAX emblem on the side.

RE: Root of the Crisis

Regarding PMI, my understanding is that there is often a second mortgage on the property to bring the first mortgage to the 80% level. It doesn't make much sense to me to allow that but I know people who have done it. It supposedly is cheaper than PMI too which also makes little sense.

RE: Brake controller installation

I used those instructions and found them to be accurate and easy to follow.

RE: Tybee here we come

We were at Tybee last weekend and ate at "The Breakfast Club" for lunch but they do a big breakfast business as well. Sort of a dive but the food was excellent. I've eaten at Uncle Bubbas a few times, it was OK but not outstanding. We also ate at the Crab Shack and the food was also OK but the best part was the experience.

RE: Poor gas mileage

Your mileage seems better than most get with that truck. I know two guys that have that same truck and both of them claim 12 MPG around town.

RE: first trip out - what was on your "bring next time" list?

The first thing we had to buy was a rug, should have gone ahead and bought the woven one first. Next was zero gravity chairs, money well spent there. Then of course we had to have awning lights. We brought the camper home on Wednesday and camped Friday night so we didn't have lots of time to make and check the list. We hit Walmart each of our first 5 camping trips. Enjoy yourself.

TV Cable outlets

Sorry for the stupid question but I bought my Flagstaff TT used and so I'm having to figure out some of this stuff. My unit has an area by the door where the TV goes and there's a plate with two coax jacks and a power button for the booster. In the bedroom there's a place for a TV with only one coax jack and no booster. My question is, is this boosted as well or merely a passthrough for the external cable TV jack? I can try it but thought someone might know off the top of their head.

RE: GM Trucks Not Charging TT Batteries

It's really easy to address this but admittedly not as easy as it ought to be. There are two wires that you need to attach to two studs on the fuse center and you will need to put a 30 amp slow burn fuse in place. It takes about 10 minutes to do it if you have good instructions. I did it but every time I go camping the TT is plugged in for a ferw days while the fridge cools down and we load the TT.

RE: Database software

Oracle is overkill and while the download is free you better read the license document carefully. If you want a back end database then MySql is a very very good option. Open Office is certainly worth a look too, no cost so nothing to lose really. I support hundreds of Oracle databases across the nation and can tell you that Oracle is far and away the most difficult option to install and configure. Microsofts Sql 2005 is another good option and Sql Express is supposedly free but again I think you better look hard at the license agreement to make sure. SQL Server Management Studio Express is the front-end tool you may want to use with SQL Express. It is also free and not a bad tool at all.

RE: Jekyll Island, Georgia

Fernandina Beach is worth a look around as well. If you've never been to some of the large springs in Florida that might interest you as well. If you want to go all out you can stay at teh Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island for a few days. It isn't cheap but it is a very unique experience.

What site are you in, I'll try to find a photo from our last trip of the shorline.

RE: Fort de Soto, Florida

Whe we were there there were many boats anchored just off the campground. It's a shallow grass flat no wake zone so you won't need to worry about waves too much unless a really bad storm kicks up.
